Transsexuals, Transgenders, & Crossdressers, Oh My!

Springfield, Virginia, USA. I am a woman born transsexual.  What benefit is it to me to gather under a gender-spectrum, politically correct Capital T with transgenders choosing to live as another gender, crossdressers who change their outward presentations whenever they wish, bearded men in dresses, transvestite fetishists, chicks with dicks, silicon breasted street hookers, pseudo-revolutionary gender fuckers, and me?

None.

The current good intentioned passion for all encompassing inclusiveness is illogical and ill conceived.  We are not all the same and never will be the same.

I am a woman.  I’ve been a woman since my conception. I will remain a woman even as the worms eat my decaying body.  A man born transsexual (a transman in the vernacular) has always been and always will be a man.  Our gender identities are independent of either our outward societal presentations or the state of the surgical corrections to our bodies. We do not choose to be born transsexual; we are not trying to get in touch with our feminine or masculine sides: we are.  A growing body of scientific evidence supports us.  Our brains are structured similarly to those of people born possessing genitals of the sex opposite of our transsexual born bodies.

Women born transsexual have female brains; Men born transsexual have male brains.  The difficulty is with our bodies, not our presentations or societal roles.  Think of it as a birth defect that takes years and a lot of money to correct.

A transgendered person, no matter what degree, accepts their birth genitals.  Although they may prefer to live full time as their non-natal gender, making brain and body agree is not a life and death situation for them.  The transgendered are not driven to alter their birth genitals.  They do not commit suicide if they are denied Sexual Reassignment Surgery.

Crossdressers put on outward gender as they would a suit of clothes:

“Today I feel like a woman.  I will wear make-up and a dress;”

“Tomorrow is Wednesday.  I shall be a man tomorrow.”

Presentation is everything; the core gender identity is static. Crossdressers remain male with corresponding genitalia. (There are so few female crossdressers, the issue is moot.)

A man or woman born transsexual does not decide one morning to present as a woman, the next as a man.  Although our core identities also remain static, once we are transitioned, so does our outward presentation to the world.  We do not switch back and forth on whim or feeling.

Fetish transvestites, on the other hand, get off on clothing.  Their whole purpose of cross-gender dressing centers on sexual excitement and orgasmic pleasure.  The fantasy life of a fetish transvestite is far removed from the daily reality of the person born transsexual who wears clothes rather than go into the world naked.

A crossdressing prostitute with breast implants is not a woman.  Silicon is a profit oriented, market driven business decision not life saving surgery.

Gender fucking is a political statement looking for fifteen minutes of fame with hopes of disturbing the “patriarchal establishment.”  The core identity is not at issue. Body altering reassignment surgery is not part of the political discussion.

All the benefits that result from pulling this circus under the same tent as people born transsexual fall on everyone except the transsexual person.  The non-transsexual parade wants to associate itself with the scientific research, medical protocols and treatments, and growing legal framework being established to meet the real needs of transmen and transwomen.  They argue that we are all the same in a shifting gender spectrum, thus we all are entitled to be treated as if we were a person born transsexual.

{josquote}And what benefit does the person born transsexual net from all this gathering?  A public that confuses transwomen with crossdressers, fetishists, and silicon inflated streetwalkers.{/josquote}

I am all for laws that recognize the variety of human existence, but not if the result threatens to pull the well constructed framework for being born transsexual down into the murky waters of Marxist philosophy and “I want what I want when and how I want it” cultural narcissism.

We are not all the same.

A male adult with a working penis in a woman’s restroom with young children present is not the same thing as a woman born transsexual with estrogen and testosterone blockers flowing through her body.

A transvestite fetishist is not a transgendered person. A chick with a dick hooker is not a gender fucking revolutionary.

Gender identity is more than clothes or make-up or even silicon implants.  Any political philosophy, however rightly intended, that denies reality and the medical distinctions and physical differences between people resides in a what if world of bad science and academic cultural fantasy, doomed to failure outside the green quads of the universities.

It’s time to drop the pretences and wide-eyed idealism and work together to make a better society for everyone.  Just don’t pretend we are all identical and the world must accommodate everyone and every difference equally.

So They Say

Cities have sexes: London is a man, Paris a woman, and New York a well-adjusted transsexual.

Finding Our Way

The Human Genome Project (HGP). The HGP identified all of the genes in the human genome and mapped their individual sequencing. Basic work began in 1990 and reached completion in 2005, sparking continuous refinements and new projects. Though the HGP is finished, data analyses will continue for many years.

A genome is all the DNA in an organism, including its genes and other materials. Genes carry information for making all the proteins required by all organisms. These proteins determine, among other things, how the organism looks, how well its body metabolizes food or fights infection, and to an extent even how it behaves.

DNA is made up of four similar chemicals (called bases and abbreviated A, T, C, and G) that are repeated millions or billions of times throughout a genome. The human genome, for example, has 3 billion pairs of bases. The particular order of As, Ts, Cs, and Gs is extremely important.

The order underlies all of life's diversity, even dictating whether an organism is human or another species such as yeast, rice, or fruit fly, all of which have their own genomes and are themselves the focus of genome projects. Because all organisms are related through similarities in DNA sequences, insights gained from nonhuman genomes often lead to new knowledge about human biology.
